A hairy issue?

Following on from yesterday’s post on beauty routines, it occurred to me that I mentioned hair removal in passing but I didn’t make much comment on it. Without wishing to enter a feminist debate on the matter – as I do think when Pip sees me shaving my legs that one day she’s going to ask me why I do it. She already copies me. But it did get me thinking.

One way round that might be to go and have a wax (or even laser hair removal – has anyone tried that by the way? I have a few friends that have and they swear by it) so that Pip can’t see me doing it – but is that even more duplicitous?

I prefer to have smooth skin because I have very dry flaky skin when I let the hairs grow. That said, when I was on maternity leave, I took Pip swimming every week but over the winter couldn’t be bothered to do any kind of hair removal. I felt so embarrassed the first time I went in the water with hairy legs (why?!) but guess what, the world didn’t end and no-one commented, if indeed they noticed at all. My legs were extra dry though, so in the end I got a wax and I’ve kept them smooth ever since.

What do you think? Any advice for me?
