I’ve been to a fair few blogging conferences and one of my key sartorial top tips is to choose your shoes first and build the rest of the outfit around them. I ran into Claire Burrows, the creator and owner of Air & Grace at Stylist Live a couple of weeks ago and over a good chat about the merits of shoes, running a business and trying on lots of shoes cemented my admiration for her business and fell in love with these silver brogues. Like many women, I often find the first time I properly sit down during the day is after the children are in bed, and there can be days when I spend all day walking circles with a buggy and then ferrying Pip around to various classes. Like I wrote earlier this week, I love a good pair of shoes and don’t want to be reduced to wearing trainers the whole time. Step forward these brogues: all the comfort of trainers; all the style of a proper shoe.
They arrived earlier this week and I’ve barely taken them off. I styled them with a Monki denim shirt dress and red lipstick for a rare evening out for a cocktail (the night that my sister’s boyfriend threw her a surprise party when she came home from Iraq and we splashed out on a babysitter) and they looked equally good with my Hush boyfriend jeans and a cashmere sweater at the weekend. I also wore them to a work meeting with a smart but interesting black dress and jacket yesterday and they were perfect for dealing with the commute. Sadly I didn’t manage to get a photo of any of my outfits this week but I will endeavour to take some more photos soon.
