Elizabeth Arden was set up over 100 years ago and the ‘red door’ references the red door of the beauty salon which she opened in New York in 1910. I have written before how one of the things about motherhood which I like so much is it ties me to the previous and next generation and I have also written about enjoying fashion and history and brands with heritage, which is why I thought Elizabeth Arden was a good fit. The Eight Hour cream was first sold in 1930. I rather enjoy the fact that I (and we) are still wearing and using products which were born in what feels like a more glamorous era.
Elizabeth Arden Green Tea perfume was the first perfume that I ever chose myself, and one which I wore consistently up until I got married. The smell defined my late teens, university and early twenties, and even now, even the slightest smell of it takes me straight back to those (rose tinted) care free days!

I did not know that, but I love it too. I also discovered that she used the business name Elizabeth Arden based on the first name of her business partner and Arden came from a Tennyson poem (or so wikipedia tells me!)
I remember when I was little my mum used to use elizabeth arden and there is a picture of me with her favourite lippy all round my chops – I would love to treat her to a replacement all these years later! 🙂
Ahhh, sitting at my dear Grandmothers dressing table as a little girl playing with her lipsticks and smellies (looking back I can’t believe she never told me off), feels very nostalgic and comforting to use the brand now 🙂

My first experience of Elizabeth Arden was in the arctic circle! I took my shiny new tube of 8 hour cream with me on holiday in Finland two years ago and used it to combat the stress of the -13c temperatures and snow and it was an absolute saviour – especially in healing any lip chapping. Two years later and the same tube of cream is still going strong.
Years ago, I had a Saturday job at Boots selling Elizabeth Arden cosmetics.
I swear by EA 8 Hour cream, whenever I fly (particularly long haul) this is a must for my hand luggage. I really understand why this is such a coveted beauty product. 🙂
I remember saving up to buy my mum a lipstick when I was about 13. I felt like I’d bought her the best present in the world.
Well, i have not yet had the chance to experience Elizabeth Arden but it seems like a sophisticated and luxury brand, and i hope i one day have the opportunity of trying it for myself

Elizabeth Arden is my mothers brand, she always gets a gift set at christmas. Even though I’m an adult now I always think of it as a grown ups brand.

While cleaning out my grandmother’s house I found a White Shoulders sample card tucked away in one of her favorite books. There was no date, but it looked to be from the 1950s. The amazing thing was the scent had lasted all those years. It was faint, but you could still smell it.
I remember watching my Grandmother apply Elizabeth Arden and she never looked less than fabulous, even in her last days, she had to smell lovely and have her “face on”…
The first time i tried an Elizabeth Arden product was when i received a perfume from my sister in law for christmas,it was lovely and i always buy a new bottle when i run out!

Goodness ! The scarlet lipstick really reminds me of my Mum. She had that lovely red Elizabeth Arden lipstick, but only wore it on special occasions.
My grandmother was the most terrible snob about absolutely everything and refused to entertain any other make-up but Elizabeth Arden. That made me think it wasn’t really a brand for me – until I was given a gift of eight-hour cream, and never looked back!
My mum always had Elizabeth Arden lipstick and I do remember getting a fair few tellings off when I was caught playing ‘grown ups’
I was first introduced to Elizabeth Arden when an older lady my dad used to garden for left me her makeup in her will. I had always been in awe of her cherry red lips and her immaculate eye makeup and when I received her makeup box inside was a beautiful sweet peach blush. Ive never looked back since Elizabeth Arden all the way.
I’ve used Visible Difference moisturiser for years and swore by it. When I was 7 months pregnant I got chicken pox and I rang my mother in tears one day because it my face was covered in spots and I looked awful. My mother told me not to worry, to put my moisturiser on and they would be gone in the morning. I thought she was mad but I did it any way. I woke up in the morning and they had virtually gone. I am not sure if it was the Visible Difference but I told that story for years
My favourite perfume is Sunflowers by Elizabeth Arden,It smells so gorgeous and I it always reminds me of Summer

I remember wearing Elizabeth Arden 8 hour miracle cream all the time when I was a teenager, using on lips, brows, cheekbones, I was one shiny kid, and when I smell Elizabeth Arden products now it really does remind me of my youth

I remember my step grandmother loved Elizabeth Arden perfume – she was a very down-to-earth lady and always made me laugh. I can remember that the perfume was very delicate, which seemed at odds with her heavy framed, practical approach to life.
I love the lip balm, I used it to get my lips in perfect condition for my wedding day, and even now it’s an affordable luxury.
Elizabeth Arden was responsible for establishing makeup as proper and even appropriate for women. Before she came along make up was used mainly by the lower classes and prostitutes.
My mum uses EA and I now use the 8 hour cream

Elizabeth Arden always reminds me of my mother as she always used her foundation! Toasty Beige compact was the very first foundation I ever bought and I saved up my pocket money for a few weeks to buy it! I have loved it ever since 🙂 x
