It wouldn’t be much of a celebration week without cake, would it? Today’s giveaway is from Michelle, who runs The Lavender Bakery. Michelle and I met way back when, through our blogs, when we discovered that we were getting married within a week of each other. Fast forward 4 years, and we are both North London neighbours and mothers.
Michelle established The Lavender Bakery in Islington in early 2008. At the time, as surprising as it seems now, you could barely find good cupcakes in North London. She wanted to provide stunning handmade cakes made with good quality ingredients, the kind of cakes that she wants to eat and to serve to her own family and friends. We have eaten Michelle’s cakes and can vouch that they are delicious! She says that she mostly uses Italian meringue buttercream to cover the cakes because the finish means they look both delicious and beautiful. All products are baked using French butter, fair trade sugar and coffee, organic fruit, vegetables eggs and flour and each cake or biscuit is designed to order and baked with care.
Michelle bakes cakes (and cupcakes) for all sorts of occasions – birthdays, weddings, christenings, baby naming, baby showers… as well as the most beautiful iced biscuits which I think would be lovely at either a birthday party or baby shower, or just because you fancy a treat!
